StepSpace launches in Belfast City Centre

Causeway Asset Management has introduced a first-of-its-kind, shared office space in Belfast City Centre with 50% of the 80 desks available already filled.

Based on Chichester Street, StepSpace at Centre House is targeted at ‘fast-scaling’ tech companies. New tenants include Whitespace, headquartered in London, which will undertake a 20-desk membership from early July whilst a local tech company is in the process of finalising a 30-desk office.

Danielle Hanvey, asset manager at Causeway Asset Management, said of this promising start, “50% occupancy pre-launch bodes well for the future success of the brand.”

This is the first of similar projects that the company will launch across Northern Ireland. The concept was developed to close the gap between traditional city centre letting and co-working office space. Instead of fixed 5 or 10 year leases, ongoing memberships are offered for StepSpace.

Flexible functionality

StepSpace is comprised of a private office space, communal core and operational and support services such as recruitment, funding and navigating grants. The flexibility of StepScape’s design affords businesses to develop in a ‘fully scalable, modular office environment’ without the need to relocate to accommodate this growth.

“We can convert a 10-desk office to a 15 or 20-desk office in the space of a weekend to meet the needs of our occupiers,” explains Ann Trueman, manager of StepSpace.

“The collaborative core at the heart of the venture gives our members all the benefits of a co-working space, combined with the privacy requirements of a scaling business.

“This approach allows our members to focus on their own business while also availing of a shared support ecosystem of other companies going through the same journey, at the same time, in the same space.”
