Who you work for? Templeton Robinson in Holywood
What brought you into the business?
My parents invested in property and that’s when my interest began. During my degree in Planning and Property Development I was offered a placement by Templeton Robinson and this resulted in me being offered a full-time job at the end of my degree.
Who has inspired you in the property world?
There really are too many people to mention but all of my colleagues at Templeton Robinson.
What do you have sitting on your desk?
My Blackberry, diary, a folder full of rental applications, a ruler with a built-in calculator and my computer.
Downtime is?
Watching my two favourite teams’ Man United and the mighty White Knights (Ulster Rugby), and spending time with my fiancee, family and friends.
Do you do lunch?
I have time for a quick sandwich, but fun Friday usually involves a trip to the chippy and maybe the bakery!
What qualifications do you think are essential for estate agency?
A general understanding of business and the property market and the ability to listen to client’s needs and connect with customers.
What did you want to be when you were a child?
A professional footballer or a pilot!
If you could give it all up tomorrow, where in the world would you move to, and what would you do?
Italy where I could ski in the winter and make pizzas in the summer.
What is the most common misconception people have about estate agents?
Many people believe that we are untruthful and over-paid but estate agents create trustworthy relationships with clients and customers and we work very long pressured hours.
Any unfulfilled ambitions?
I would love to own an expensive classic car collection.
Your top tip for house-hunters is?
Many house-hunters try and find a home that “ticks all 10 boxes”, but I advise that if you can find a property that “ticks 8 boxes” then they have been fortunate.
