Report reveals 10% growth in number of new NI homes

The number of completed new-build homes in the last year has grown by 10% to reach 7,100, according to a new report.

The Northern Ireland Housing Statistics report, from the Department for Communities, showed there were 7,382 residential planning decisions made, of which just 6% were refusals.

The report additionally demonstrated growth of 1% in the number of total homes in Northern Ireland, reaching 790,328.

Alongside these statistics, the report also showed that there was an increase of 9% in the number of homes built for social housing, with 1,507 completions.

There has been considerable local growth in new housing projects by major developers.

Neptune Carleton recently announced plans for 1,300 dwellings and a one-mile road scheme at Blaris Lands in Lisburn.
