Football legend George Best took inspiration from the unique architectural design of this posh pad in Holywood for the design of his home in Manchester.

The football legend was a frequent visitor to the house on the Bangor Road where he spent leisurely hours playing snooker in the games room.

The house also featured in the film on Best’s life story.

Famous visitor aside, the distinctive design of what is a unique home has made it a landmark in its own right in the coastal Co Down town.

Built in 1971 by George McDermott, it was very much ahead of its time and 40 years on can still stand proudly among its contemporaries.
