Leading obstetrician and father of movie star Jamie Dornan, Professor Jim Dornan has put his home on the market for nearly £1m.
Located in the highly-desirable Crawfordsburn area, the property is described by estate agent Templeton Robinson as a “stunning contemporary design” with “majestic gardens”.
It is situated on the leafy Ballymullan Road where former residents include local legend Van Morrison and ex-Chief Constables Sir Hugh Orde.
The extravagant pad boasts five bedrooms and three receptions rooms and also features a cinema room, sun terrace, putting green and patio.
Completed to an impeccably high standard, Prof Dornan said the decor was inspired by trips he and wife Samina made to Africa and Asia.
“It’s very Asian and South African and it is coloured by our love for those two parts of the world,” he said.
“Every time we go to South Africa or Asia, Samina must bring back a piece, whether it’s art or whatever.”
Named ‘Shigar’ after the valley in Pakistan, Prof Dornan explained: “We had a wonderful holiday over there with 18 friends from all around the UK and Ireland about 10 years ago and we stayed in Shigar Fort, it was such a wonderful place, so tranquil.”
Revealing his decision to sell the home in order to spend more time down south, Prof Dornan said: “Life evolves, it’s full of chapters and it’s a lot of house and it suits us to downsize,
“We have a beautiful house down in Connemara which we are increasingly getting away to for longer.
“I was recently in Connemara, Co Galway, and I thought why am I coming down here for a week at a time when I could be down here for longer.”
