Little Movers Matter with Lanyon Property & Autism NI

Share

On Thursday 11th August 2016 Lanyon Property in Newtownards launched the ‘Little Movers’ initiative which supports families whose children have ASD and Sensory Processing to move house with the minimum level of stress. This initiative is a ‘first’ within the property industry and combines an ASD experienced estate agency, with the knowledge and support of Autism NI.

Sarah-Jayne Cassells from Autism NI said: “We are delighted to support Lanyon Property’s ‘Little Movers’ initatives and believe that it provides families with the support and guidance they may need during the stresses of a house move. We are continually exploring new ways to help our families and are excited to be part of this much needed initiative.”

The ‘Little Movers’ information booklet is available to download from Lanyon Property at lanyonproperty.com or Autismni.org, alternatively you can pick-up a hard copy at 6a North Street Newtownards.

Heather Taylor from Lanyon Property said: “We understand that families can get caught up in the technicalities and logistics of moving house and sometimes the ‘Little Movers’ are forgotten. This can be an especially traumatic time for children with ASD as their world can feel like it’s been turned upside down.”

Heather continued: “Having had experience of a house move recently with my own children who have ASD and sensory issues, I knew how important it was to create a ‘Little Movers’ parents guide. With the additional support of our ASD-aware team in Lanyon Property working hand in hand with Autism NI, we want to provide the support necessary for those families who need it.”

As well as the ‘Little Movers’ information booklet, Lanyon Property has also developed a number of unique methods, especially for ASD families. These include Virtual Reality house tours using 360° photography allowing children to ‘virtually’ visit a property and get a sense of the space without having the upset of visiting lots of different properties in person. Online interactive floorplans have also assisted children to see a property’s layout and understand where all the rooms are located prior to a viewing in order to minimise the information overload that some ASD children may experience.

Lanyon Property will also kindly donate a gift voucher to each Autism family who partake in this initiative from educational toy shop, Learning Space.

If you are thinking of moving home and would like to talk to someone, the team at Lanyon Property and Autism NI would be delighted to hear from you on 028 9182 2933.
