Investors sought for redevelopment of Glenarm harbour

Proposals are being sought for the redevelopment of a disused yard at Glenarm harbour.

In a major project aimed at helping the wider area’s regeneration, expressions of interest are being sought for the 1.2 acre Eglington Yard which faces New Road, part of the Causeway Coastal Route, and is directly opposite the new Tourist Information Office.

Under the instructions of Mid and East Antrim Borough Council, the site is being marketed by agents Lisney.

Mayor of Mid and East Antrim, Lindsay Millar, said she hoped the right buyer and scheme would “return this vacant opportunity to a viable and sustainable jewel in Glenarm’s crown”.

The site for sale has an open-sided warehouse, outbuildings and a “substantial” yard area and Lisney said an investor could capitalise on the already successful tourist appeal of the area, also home to Glenarm Castle and Glenarm Forest Park.

Andrew Gawley, director at Lisney, said: “Whilst planning permission for a mixed commercial and residential scheme was previously granted for Eglington Yard, we are inviting interested parties to come forward with their own proposals and parties should then make their own enquiries through the planning process.”
